Meet Dominic Cardy

Dominic Cardy brings a wealth of experience in international affairs and Canadian politics, having served as Minister of Education and now as an independent MLA, committed to public service and policy innovation.

Born in the UK and raised in Fredericton, Dominic was elected as the Progressive Conservative MLA for Fredericton West-Hanwell in 2018 and re-elected in 2020. He served as Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development until 2022. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Dalhousie University.

Dominic’s career spans roles with the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, the National Democratic Institute, and the Forum of Federations, working across Asia and Africa. He also led the New Brunswick NDP from 2011-2016 and served as Chief of Staff to the Leader of the Opposition from 2017-2018. Additionally, Dominic has been a flying instructor since 1994 and is a member of the editorial board of Inroads, a Canadian policy journal.

When I first saw the information about the party I found it so refreshing. A party that focuses on facts to drive the policy decisions, incredible! A party that isn’t going to waste precious time squabbling about what the cover of the passport looks like! Let’s get on with the things that really matter and make a difference to Canadians. We need a party who assumes that Canadians are smart enough to vote on REAL issues. This sounds like it may be the path. Also, we need proportional representation/election reform and that is part of CFP’s policy.

I joined the Canadian Future Party because I finally feel represented. I like the idea of there being a party focused on doing their job well rather than being infallible. With the Canadian Future Party, for the first time, I don’t feel like a lost young person having to choose between parties that I don’t have confidence in. I have confidence in evidence-based, scientific thinking. I have confidence in the Canadian Future Party.
